After the excesses of the Christmas period, you can’t face anymore baileys, celebration chocolates or rich mince-pies. Motivation to change is high and you are resolute in your commitment to get fit and healthy.

It seems that there are so many gyms springing up around town, that it is hard to know where to begin your search. The thought of joining somewhere feels risky and intimidating. And what if you sign up and then don’t commit?
You think back with a heavy heart to memberships joined and lost, after the initial New Year motivation had dissipated. Long after your last gym visit, the direct debit payments had continued, as you sat on the sofa watching Netflix and eating smoky bacon crisps.

BearWalden is a CrossFit gym (or box as CF gyms are called) right on your doorstep in Saffron Walden. CrossFit offers constantly varied, functional movement and high intensity workouts. You get to do a combination of gymnastics, powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, kettlebells, plyometrics (jump training) and advanced conditioning workouts.

- QUALITY COACHING
At CrossFit, the groups are small (usually around 10-15 people per class) allowing for personal input from the coaches, Sam, Barney, Mark and Will. This doesn’t happen in all gyms, where you can feel lost in large groups. Smaller groups allow for specific input on technique and the coaches have time to help you when you get stuck. The coaches are passionate about CrossFit, and also about helping every individual to achieve their own goals. As well as fitness, they can also advise on nutrition, and they offer personal training options too.
- SUSTAINABLE FITNESS
The problem with many gyms is that after a few weeks you get bored. Your initial motivation wanes and keeping fit doesn’t seem sustainable. BearWalden is different in this respect. Whether you are doing CrossFit or bootcamps, workouts vary everyday to keep things interesting. You could be doing anything from gymnastics one day to weight lifting another; from cardio to body weight exercises too.
